Campground is close to town and you can walk to all the sites. Enjoyed our time at this campground. Staff was friendly and nice.

Stayed here again. Watched the fireworks on the 4th. Ate at a bunch of places in town. Hiked around and swam in Superior. We didn't even leave the city this time. Great weather and we sailed on the Hjordis sail boat. Definately recommend it!

Just got back from another camping trip here. Had a great time even though it rained a lot. Felt sorry for the tenters. Even though I've camped here many times, I still find new things to do. On this trip I found a hiking trail off of the campground that provided an awesome view of the harbor!

Totally a awesome campground! Can not say enough about the campground and the area in general. So much to see and do. Great food in town. Love to browse the shops or just take a lawn chair out and listen to the seagulls and the waves just feet from the campground. If you look real close you might see the sea otters playing in the waters off the break wall by the boat docks. Such a friendly town with something new around every corner. Bring the pets they love the walking!

Absolutely love camping here!!! Sites can be a bit crowded and a touch on the spendy side but being so close to Lake Superior and a lot of things to keep you busy is hard to find. The grounds are well maintained. The family really likes hiking along the shoreline and up into town. Like eating at the Angry Trout and Sven & Ole's pizza! The Drury Lane Bookstore and Lake Superior Trading Post are great places to stop in and browse the goods. I buy stuff at them every trip. Just want to relax, open up your lawn chair on the "beach" and listen to the waves come crashing in. This campground also works great as a base camp for the Gunflint Trail and other attractions up Hwy 61 towards Canada.

This is a fantastic campground with many amenities. There are many hiking trails, water access, and souvenir shopping nearby. You may even get lucky enough to take part in some of the folk school activities such as building timber frame buildings with old-school tools. We took our 15 foot trailer and were able to back into the campsite with relative ease, staying about twenty feet from the shore of Lake Superior. There are separate areas for tents, long rvs, and shorter trailers; each site has a picnic table and above-ground grill. We were able to access wireless internet and cable tv if we wanted, and the small town of Grand Marais was within walking distance. If you want a good home-cooked meal, eat in town at the VFW (just register as a visitor when you walk in the front door).
