I thought this was an excellent family campground. There was hiking within the campground as well as close by. They have a nice, sandy beach, though a bit small. They had a movie night and magic show at the amphitheater that was very good. The sites are flat and a good size. There is a boat launch as well. There is an ice cream/snack shop just outside the park that makes for a nice refreshing treat after the trek to get there. There is also a canal with a bridge which rotates manually just before you enter the park. The facilitators allow the children to help spin this bridge. The canal allows small watercrafts to pass from adjacent lakes to reach Lake Sebago. Park rangers are excellent and park is very clean and well maintained.

State Park is a great family campground. It has the lake very close by to most sites for swimming and boating. There is a nice large grass area to play baseball or what you choose. They recently have added water and electrical (recently, meaning in the past 5 years) which makes things nice. There are many trails to walk and hike on, and the roads are very nice for walking and the kids to ride their bikes. They also have a theatre where the kids can go at night with their flashlights to watch a featured movie. I was introduced to this campground about 7 years ago and I absolutely enjoy every moment I am camping there (even in the pouring rain, which has happened to us the last 3 times we went camping!!). It is a very comfortable environment and people are very friendly. There is only downfall and that is that pets are not allowed, but it does make it nice not to worry if someone's dog will turn on a child, or the fact that the roads for walking aren't taken over by people walking their dogs and forgetting to pick up after them. Don't get me wrong I love all my 5 furry little friends, but I love camping at this campground too!!
