aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!@ this is the best campground i've been too. the view is magnificent. a five minute walk will take you to some amazing cliffs by the ocean. its closed to so many beautiful sites. if you love the outdoors, this is the best place. it's quite, clean, the bathrooms are clean as a whistle. I think the only down part is the no showers, but there's a shower house nearby. I have no complaints what so ever. For twenty dollars a night you have all these area in your fingertips. It's well worth it. i love it here. i want to go back.

So far, this is my favorite campground, but I'm very partial to the Maine coast. We went in the beginning of May so it was a little cold, but wasn't very crowded.

My all time favorite to date. Have spent two two-week stays and am planning to go back again in the next year or two (so much country to see). If you want to get away from all the noise and hubub, get back to simple, beautiful nature, but aren't back country campers, then this is the place to be. Hiking trails for all skills; a chilly but cozy beach available; and just a short walk from the campsite to the bouldered ledges along the sea, on a moonless night (as my then 6 yr old said)"you can see ALL the stars from here!" My personal recommendation is to make sure to fit a trip over to Pretty Marsh at low tide and let the little ones explore the beach. Starfish and sea urchins just to start with.

We camped at the Blackwoods campground. I used to camp at Acadia with my family when I was growing up and wanted my Wisconsin kids to experience it. We loved Acadia. Blackwoods was very clean and quiet. It is true that you can't pick your site, but so many of them are nice. No electricity or other comforts. Showers in the campground would be nice - public showers are located right outside the entrance. What you get for the rusticness is beauty. Absolutely gorgeous. Our kids loved the evening Ranger programs at the amphitheatre walking distance from our site. Tons of hiking and biking. Take your bikes to Jordan Pond and after biking the great trails enjoy popovers with jam at one of the outside tables overlooking the pond with your family. They will even bring water for your dog. Go in mid-late July and pick blueberries on every trail. Climb the giant rocks at the ocean or body surf on Sand Beach. Climb (or drive) Cadillac mountain to watch the sunrise first in the U.S. Acadia is beautiful. Now my kids want to take their kids someday...the tradition continues.

This campground is great - very wooded, the sites are large. We have a very large tent and one year they accomodated us in the large and not open group sites. The only thing I wish they campground had is showers.

We spent Labor Day 2008 at Blackwoods. We had stayed in Seawall in 2007. Blackwoods is nice, spacious sites, private. We couldn't choose our own site as we could at Seawall, but they did accomodate us when we were specific about location of site. Bathrooms clean, quiet park, not as quiet as Seawall though.Showers nearby for reasonable rates. There isn't much to do in the area unless you drive to Bar Harbor, about a 15 min drive, but we were happy with that. We would go back, we enjoyed it, but Seawall has more appeal to us than Blackwoods
