It's easy to excuse the lack of trees lost by Hurrican Katrina in the campground area because the trees that DID survive on the property are awesome and worth a huge hug around their massive hundresd of years old trunks! The view at sunset on Lake Pontchatrain are just marvelous. There has been lots of restoration to this great park, so support it! It's a good place to bike and hike and the Vistor's Center has some good displays about indiginious populations and there are ruins on site as well.

This was a very nice park. We had one of the pull thru sites the problem I had with it is that your electricity and water is by the fire ring and picnic table. other than that this was a very nice campground. We will be going back very soon.

Before Hurricaine Katrina, this was one of our favorite parks to stay at. The park received a tremendous amount of damage during the hurricaine. They are working to rebuild the park. We stayed there for a week last Easter. Many things had been rebuilt, and hopefully much more has been done since we last stayed there. It will take years though, for the reforestation. They lost tons of trees. The park is centrally located to lots of places to visit. There is a nature center just across the road from the park. It is not far to Slidell, Madisonville, Covington, and New Orleans. We visited the marina in Mandeville, the boat museum in Madisonville, there is a park on the Bogue Falaya in Covington that was neat. We also spent a day at Stennis Space Center. We hope you can make many memories here, we certainly did.
