We just got back from Chicot this week. This was a very nice campground. We stayed in south campground sites 88&90 these two sites or nice but if your camper is longer than 27 foot you will have a hard time backing into site 88. We will be staying in the north campground from now on.

We really like the south campground here. It's nicely wooded and if you pick your spot you can have a degree of privacy that is very rare in a state park. Chicot is located around a very large and very beautiful flooded cypress impoundment and boat/canoe rentals are available. There are also some of the nicest nature trails in this part of the state, including ones that go right through the Louisiana State Arboretum. To update the stats on this park, the 'B' and 'C' loops have been upgraded to 50 amp and the power has been recently overhauled for the entire southern campground. Also, when we were there the first week in June '09, they had almost finished hooking up their new wifi (wireless internet) service. There are a couple of negatives for this park. The restroom/showers that we were near ('A' loop) were old and the the men's side had locker room style showers. Some of the sites (again mostly the 'A' loop) are quite unlevel. Also, some of the sites ('A' loop in particular) will require extentions for your water line and/or power cable. If you have a larger rig you'll probably want to stick to the 'B' and 'C' loops; there are no restrooms back there, but the sites are level and you have 50 amp power.

North campground accomodates larger rigs, while the South campground is their jewel. The sites there are spaced apart well and more wooded.
