We enjoyed our visit to this area. Camped in the Middlefork campground. Sites were small but level. We had a pull-thru but not a lot of shade. Pets are allowed in the campground. There is an inn and some cabins nearby which works well for us because some of our travel group don't have campers. We loved the hiking at Red River Gorge (have to drive there). As the other reviewer mentioned, visit Chimney Rock and take the Suspension bridge trail. We had 5 dogs within our group of 6 families and what a hoot trying to get them across the suspension bridge. We had 1 day that rained so we visited the Reptile Zoo just down the highway. It doesn't look like much from the road but go visit. It's really quite a place and we had lots of fun.

Natural Bridge actually has 2 campgrounds, Whittleton and Middlefork. Middlefork is designed more for the RVer. It has spots that you can pull through. The sites are pretty close and the highway wraps around the campground, so it can get pretty noisy. Whittleton dead ends at the Whittleton Arch trail and the campsites in the back are fairly roomy, and have a stream running behind them. I'd actually give Whittleton a 4. But because they are lumped together I'll rate the two of them a 3. The bathhouses only have two or three showers with just curtain closures. A little updating might be in order. The area is gorgeous, however, and there's electric and water. We have a great time here every year.

Small campground located right next to a busy highway which was pretty noisy at night. Campsites are small but flat. The facilites were clean and state park employees helpful. You are very close to the lodge for dining and the main attraction, Natural Bridge which has a sky lift. Drive into Red River Gorge for many easy hiking trails. Don't miss the breath taking views at 900' Chimney Rock or the Suspension Bridge Trail with a great swimming hole.
