Laura and I started our week long vacation by camping at Shady Creek a corp of engineers campground 8 miles north of Muscatine, Iowa. There were 4 campgrounds along Iowa state route 22 from the Quad Citys north, and Muscatine to the south. There was a county campground on the shore in Buffalo, IA, Clarks Ferry, Shady Creek and Wildcat Den State Park. We checked out all and decide Shady Creek was our best choice. However, even though the sites were small Wildcat Den had water and electric. Please be adviced there is a train track along all of the parks. During our stay the trains only passed by 4 or less times a day, and at no time did it pass and night. The sound of the horn was the only annoyance to me. There is a tree line between the park and the track. We found Shady Creek very comfortable and clean.
