This is our favorite campground in the world! It's small and peaceful although it has become very restrictive for campers, even small ones, as the upper half of the campgrounds have been designated for tent camping only. Another sometimes annoying problem is that because of the topography, the frequent evening campfires with poorly seasoned wood can overwhelm the campground with smoke. The campground is right on a flowing mt stream and the scenery is beautiful. It's a very convenient base camp from which you can spent the 7 night maximum, and explore a great deal of this gem of the NP system. Drive the old Fall River Trail to the visitors center at the top of the park, especially in the evening after the park has emptied considerably. There are so many wonderful hikes in Rocky Mt that it's impossible to recommend one over another but Bear Lakes and Glacier Basin are among the best (and most popular). I recommend to keep on hiking at either one as many people are simply day trippers and give out after the first water fall or so. I'm always dreaming of Rocky Mt NP!!

I love this campground for the views. Sites are your usual national park sites, but the views are spectacular. Enough hiking nearby to warrant a week long stay. Love the campground, but be sure to acclimate to the elevation!
