There are NO reservations at this camp ground - first come first serve. When we arrived and picked a spot we discovered a note on the post asking us to call a number saying that the spot had been paid for and there was an old dirty mattress near right next to the site. Well, I tried to call the number but got a recording about buying some property or something. My husband dragged the mattress away from our site near a hiking trail where it was eventually picked up by park personnel. I went to pay for the site - which is an automated kiosk and you pay cash or use your credit card. I got the ticket and put it on the post. Later some person showed up saying it was his spot and he'd paid for it (hence the note) and the park ranger talked to him about it because if you pay for a spot you put your receipt on the post and not a note, and if you really paid for it why wouldn't you do that rather than leave a note? Because apparently you pay for the spot and then no one else can pay for the same spot on the same day! Stupid people. ANYWAYS...the park was small and busy, lots of campers, people coming for the day to swim in the creek (which is ice cold even in July!) or hike the trails. Though with all that activity is was quiet. We only swam in the creek and chatted with our neighbors who did take the hike up to the hot springs. We hope to go back soon and enjoy them ourselves.

This is a small but awesome National Park campground. It sits along a creek, has a small shell for activities such as weddings or park sponsored nature talks. It is beautiful in the fall and even in the rain (as we experienced) The campground is only a few miles from Hot Springs which has wonderful healing spas and a quaint town to boot. The rain didn't dampen our spirits it just brought us in to soak in the hot springs and drink mineral water more often!
