This place is a hidden jewel. What a great fall getaway for families! We didn't actually stay in the campground (camper problems). Instead, we rented one of the cabins which have been restored from the 1800's (Williams Cabin). There is lots to do here, from the craft cabins, bike riding, train rides, hiking, fishing, a museum, to just hanging out with some of the friendliest staff you'll ever meet. Wish we could have stayed more than a weekend! The campground sites are a little close, but everyone seems very much like a small community, so it didn't seem that it was too cramped. I thought they didn't have sewer, but Area 1 does have full hook ups. I don't remember any pull through sites. There are quite a few situated along the creek which is nice and clear- you can see the trout and there are beautiful mallards there also. Very nice and clean, but we didn't visit the bathrooms, so I don't know about those. The grounds were all very well maintained- one of the staff even puts out corn for the deer so that visitors can get a chance to see them on the hills.

This is a wonderful historic site! 2 homeschool moms took 5 children during the week and we had a blast! It rained and this is not a fancy place, so it was a little muddy, but overall we didn't care because there was so much to see and do. The kids had a great time in the blacksmith's shop and got really dirty. Does covered in soot adequately cover it???? Hummmmm....very nice museum on site. Kids were disappointed that the snack shop and several other attractions were closed during the week.
