This campground is definitely off the beaten path, but well worth it. We found out that it is very popular with the Monroe County locals. You can fish and even hunt (in an adjacent area) and there is a River Museum just as you enter the campground. However, you need to bring what you will need. The nearest store is around 30 minutes away. The campground does provide complimentary life vests to campers and sells ice for $1.50/bag, but that's it. We camped here in a travel trailer at site #30. We could not believe how huge the site was. Our camper, truck, and boat trailer all fit on the concrete slab with plenty of room left for the kids to ride their bikes. There was also a large side area to the site with a very nice picnic table and fire ring with grill in really good shape. We checked out quite a few other sites while we were camping, and all seemed to have been updated recently. Great area for bike riding. Campground staff were very friendly and accommodating. The campground is well maintained and clean. Almost all of the sites have really good shade (except a couple right on the river) There were 2 bathhouses. One was newly remodeled- good water pressure and hot water! Our kids loved the playgrounds and fishing off the dock at the campsite. We took our boat, which I highly recommend. The Alabama River is so scenic and peaceful, and the fishing is good too. We will definitely be making another trip to Isaac Creek! |
